This splendid Tabriz carpet, originating from Persia, embodies the elegance and richness of classic Persian design. Crafted from hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a high knot density of 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter, testifying to its artisanal fineness and a moderate thickness of approximately 1 cm.
The heart of the carpet is dominated by a large, complex-shaped central medallion, steeped in intricate floral motifs and deep blue hues. The main field, a vibrant intense red, is skillfully decorated with an "all-over design" of floral elements, including delicate palmettes, sinuous arabesques, and the characteristic "boteh" (paisley or almond) motif. The corners feature coordinated spandrels, on a cream background, which echo and complete the central design.
The border is a work of art in itself, composed of multiple stripes. The main stripe, on a dark blue background, is adorned with a harmonious succession of palmettes and floral vines, framed by subtle secondary borders with small geometric and vegetal motifs. The meticulous craftsmanship and rich chromatic palette, which includes red, blue, cream, and accents of green, light blue, and ochre, give this Tabriz an atmosphere of luxury and refinement, making it an ideal piece to enhance classic settings or to add a touch of tradition and color to more contemporary spaces.
