This splendid Kazak rug, originating from Afghanistan, is a textile work of art that embodies the rich tradition of tribal rugs. Characterized by a vibrant design and well-defined geometric motifs, every detail tells an ancient story.
The main field features a predominant coloring of light blue and sage green tones, which create a serene and welcoming atmosphere. At the center, three large star-shaped medallions stand out, imbued with warm tones such as beige, terracotta red, and shades of green and yellow, alternating along the rug's vertical axis. These medallions are surrounded by a myriad of small stylized elements, including abstract floral motifs and geometric shapes, which harmoniously fill the space.
The borders are equally elaborate, with an inner band featuring chain motifs and a wider outer border exhibiting a succession of "double T" or "Greek key" shapes in various colors: beige, red, light green, and blue. The overall color palette is rich and varied, with touches of light blue, ocher yellow, and intense red standing out against the pastel background.
Made with hand-carded wool, this rug has a high knot density, between 100,000 and 150,000 knots/sqm, and a thickness of 1.1 cm, ensuring durability and softness. The artisanal craftsmanship is evident in the abrash, the slight color variations that testify to the use of natural dyes and the authenticity of the hand-knotting process, making each piece unique.
