This magnificent Kazak rug, originating from Afghanistan, is an authentic expression of tribal textile art. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a dense and robust weave, typical of these handicrafts. The central field, in a deep brown-taupe color, exhibits subtle color variations (abrash) that attest to its artisanal nature and the use of natural dyes, imbuing the rug with a unique and lived-in character.
The design is dominated by a majestic central geometric medallion in shades of deep red and navy blue, enriched with light blue and cream details. Surrounding it are stylized floral motifs and traditional symbols, telling stories and beliefs of nomadic peoples. The border is equally rich, with inner and outer bands framing a main cream-colored stripe, decorated with a continuous series of multicolored geometric elements, such as octagons and lozenges.
With a density of approximately 100,000-150,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.1 cm, this Kazak is not merely a furnishing item, but a piece of history and tradition, capable of bringing warmth and a touch of exoticism to any setting, from classic to contemporary.
