This magnificent Tabriz rug, originating from Persia, is a superb example of traditional textile craftsmanship. Hand-knotted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a high knot density, ranging from 160,000 to 200,000 knots/sqm, ensuring its extraordinary durability and the fineness of its design.
The rug is dominated by a classic medallion and corner (lachak-toranj) design. The central field is a deep navy blue, richly adorned with an explosion of stylized floral motifs, palmettes, and delicate vine work that extends gracefully. A large, vibrant medallion stands out at the center, while the corners are embellished with delicate quarter-medallion sections in cream.
The rug's border is a masterpiece in itself: a broad main border in bright red is decorated with elegant floral patterns and cartouches. Thinner, secondary guard borders frame the central design, adding depth and definition. The color palette, which includes shades of blue, red, cream, light blue, and green, creates a visually striking harmony, enhancing every single detail.
The meticulous craftsmanship and quality materials make this Tabriz not just a piece of decor, but a true investment. The use of hand-carded wool gives the pile a natural luster and exceptional resilience. It is a rug that carries centuries of Persian history and culture, capable of enriching any environment with its majestic and elegant presence.
