This magnificent rug originates from the renowned city of Tabriz, in Persia, a historic center of excellence in weaving. It is an example that embodies the richness and complexity of classic Persian design.
The central field is dominated by a vibrant red, upon which an intricate hexagonal-starred medallion unfolds. This medallion features a palette of navy blue and cream, enriched with delicate red accents and meticulous floral details. The medallion design is typical of Tabriz rugs and often symbolizes a lotus flower or a mosque dome, surrounded by spiral motifs, palmettes, and rosettes, which extend harmoniously across the red background.
At the four corners of the rug are the spandrels, which elegantly echo the motifs and colors of the central medallion, creating a sense of balance and visual continuity. The main border, in a deep dark blue, is densely decorated with cartouches and stylized floral motifs, masterfully framing the field. Narrower secondary borders, in cream and red, with serrated patterns or small flowers, complete the composition.
Made with hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, this rug boasts a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, ensuring its robustness and softness to the touch. It is a textile work of art that adds a touch of sophistication and history to any environment, perfect for those seeking a timeless and visually impactful furnishing piece.
