This splendid Kazak rug, originating from the mountainous regions of Afghanistan, embodies the authenticity and artisanal mastery of nomadic tribes. Entirely hand-knotted from hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp, it offers exceptional robustness and durability. Its density of approximately 100,000-150,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of 1.1 cm make it a piece of remarkable substance and resilience.
The design is a classic example of the Kazak style, characterized by large geometric medallions and stylized motifs symmetrically arranged across the field. The predominant colors, which include a warm beige background, vibrant accents of blue (from navy to light blue), and intense coral shades, are achieved with natural dyes. This gives the rug a fascinating color variation, known as abrash, a distinctive mark of manual craftsmanship.
Every detail tells a story of millennia-old tradition, making this rug not just a furnishing accessory, but a true piece of history and culture. It is ideal for enriching classic environments or adding an ethnic and sophisticated touch to contemporary spaces.
